David Tharp

David Tharp retired as Executive Director after 26 years at the International Association for Food Protection, a food safety organization. After working as a CPA, he began his association career in 1993 as the Director of Finance and Administration with his promotion to Executive Director taking place in 1997.
He has served on the board of directors for various food safety related organizations including the 3-A Sanitary Standards, the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network, Partnership for Food Safety Education, and the International Food Protection Training Institute. David also served on a number of convention and visitor bureaus’ (CVB’s) convention councils including the cities of Portland, Louisville, Toronto, Indianapolis and Des Moines.
He has been a Financial Plus Credit Union Member since 1976 beginning with the Meredith Credit Union. David began his Credit Union Board service in 2022.
