Dave Cale, President/CEO

Dave Cale has served as Financial Plus Credit Union's President/CEO since 2009.  Previously, he served in various roles since originally joining the credit union in 1992. As President/CEO, Dave oversees all credit union divisions and affairs – from lending and financials, to marketing, staff and more. Dave has been employed at FPCU for over 28 years, and has held various roles at the CU throughout his tenure. On top of his leadership duties, Dave is also considered FPCU's resident tech wizard. He says his favorite thing about his role is improving members' financial experience and helping them save money!

Outside of FPCU, Dave also lends leadership, integrity and transparency to many organizations including the Iowa Credit Union League Advocacy Committee, SHAZAM Network - ITS, Inc. board chairperson, Community Business Lenders board (past chairperson), First Community Trust (FCT) board, Payments Committee for the Credit Union National Association (CUNA), Iowa Credit Union Foundation board, Credit Union Executive Society (CUES) Iowa Council board and various other voluntary leadership roles in the Des Moines community.  Previously, he has served on the Iowa Credit Union League board (past chairperson),  Examination/Supervision and Advocacy Committees for CUNA and the Iowa Credit Union Division review board (governor-appointed and past chairperson).

Outside of the office and his other professional duties and volunteering, Dave enjoys outdoor activities such as bicycling and golf as well as spending time with his wife and two daughters. You can learn more about Dave and connect with him on LinkedIn.




Susan Kiesner, Chief Operations Officer

Susan serves as Financial Plus Credit Union's Chief Operations Officer, leading management and overall branch activities, staff, human resources and compliance. Susan is a long-time FPCU employee, with over 24 years at the credit union. Susan has held various positions during her tenure, from loan servicing specialist to loan officer to branch manager to her current role, which she's held since 2009.

Susan holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from AIB College of Business. She's a member of Central Iowa SHRM. Outside of work, Susan spends time with her husband and two sons, ages 19 and 22. Her free time goes to helping her husband with their photo booth business. 







Ted Szymanski, Chief Lending Officer

As Financial Plus Credit Union's Chief Lending Officer, Ted oversees all consumer, business and mortgage lending areas to make sure the credit union is meeting growth goals while managing the risk associated with the lending portfolio.

Ted received his bachelor's degree in finance from UW-Milwaukee and master's degree from UW-La Crosse. He has worked in the Credit Union industry for 12 years. Ted is also a member of the Credit Committee for Commercial Business Lenders. He says his favorite part about working for FPCU is helping members achieve their financial goals, and assisting them to select the right financial products to save them thousands of dollars on interest. 

Outside of work, Ted enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons.






Sheryl Beery, Chief Financial Officer

As Financial Plus Credit Union's Chief Financial Officer, Sheryl's responsibilities include investment management, financial statements, asset liability management, reviewing and setting deposit rates, quarterly NCUA reporting, budget preparation and maintaining fixed assets of the credit union. She also oversees the accounting department.

Sheryl holds a bachelor's in accounting from Upper Iowa University and a master's of accounting from Iowa State University.

Outside of work, Sheryl spends quality time with her family and friends and cheers for the Cyclones - Go State!
