Dave Cale Newly Elected Chairman of SHAZAM's Board of Directors

DES MOINES, Iowa (Sept 22, 2022) — SHAZAM, Inc., a nationwide provider of financial services to banks and credit unions, announces Dave Cale was recently elected chairman of the company’s board of directors. Cale is President/CEO at Financial Plus Credit Union (FPCU). 

“This is Dave’s ninth year as a SHAZAM board member, so he knows good chairs are passionate about their work and able to focus on getting things done properly,” said SHAZAM President and CEO Paul Waltz. “Dave’s business acumen, clear sense of direction and big-picture strategy are essential as he leads the SHAZAM board as chairman. We’re happy to have him in this role.”

Dave joined Financial Plus Credit Union, a member-owned financial cooperative in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1992 and has offered his leadership, integrity and transparency to the following organizations:

  • A board member for Community Business Lenders (CBL), Des Moines, IA, since 2010. CBL is a credit union-owned business lending organization that provides business credit access to small business owners.
  • A board member (secretary/treasurer) for the Credit Union Executive Society (CUES) Iowa Council since 2012.
  • A member of the Iowa Credit Union League (ICUL) Advocacy Committee serving since 2012.  He also served as an ICUL board member for 9 years, including as chairperson from 2014-16.  The ICUL serves and represents the interests of Iowa’s credit unions and their members. 
  • A past member of both the Advocacy Committee and Examination-Supervision Subcommittee for the Credit Union National Association (CUNA), Washington, D.C., from 2016-21.
  • A past board member for the Iowa Division of Credit Unions (IDCU), which is a governor-appointed position, where he served from 2009-21. The IDCU is the regulating agency for state-chartered credit unions in Iowa.
