Equifax Security Breach: (UPDATE)
September 8, 2017
Equifax Data Breach (*UPDATE*)
Earlier today, we supplied information from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) relating to the Equifax Breach. This information encouraged people to visit the Equifax's website (www.equifaxsecurity2017.com) for more information and the option to register for free credit monitoring.
It has come to our attention that you will have to supply some personal information on Equifax's website to qualify for additional credit monitoring. Also, by agreeing to their terms of service, you MAY be waiving certain rights to further remedies including possible class action lawsuits.
It is possible to monitor your credit by receiving a free credit report annually. If you request a free report from each of the credit reporting agencies, you could receive a report every 4 months.
FPCU is presenting this information to help you make informed decisions regarding your financial health but is not making a specific recommendation. Please monitor your credit as you feel comfortable.
